Facia Plates for 03 Passat

Can anyone please help, I have been to my local Halfords to attempt to buy a new stereo for my 03 Passat and the guy there said that because it was an 03 there is no standard facia plate available - would love to be able to change out the factory unit and get a unit that is mp3 player friendly -HELP HELP :1zhelp:
