I am just about to purchase my 1st Audi - an 07 Avant S-Line 2.0 Tdi 140 most probably.
In my search, I have seen some seemingly identical models have a different layout of exhaust tailpipes.
Some have a Twin exit on the passenger side , others having two single exits on either side.
Why is this?

cheers

Hi Abyss,

I have a 07 Avant SE 2.0 TDi 170 which has two single exhausts, one on either side of the car. I've always been told that the 140's have a twin exhaust and the 170's have the two single exhausts. As far as i know, this applies to S Line and SE versions.

Yep. Wish the 140 had the same style of exhaust as the 170 as it looks so much better.

Anyone know if a 170 exhaust (with a 170 rear bumper of course) would fit the 140 without too much hassle?

I was looking into the same thing for my 140.

Having had a quick look under the car you owud only need to replace the rear apron as opposed to the whole bumper :D
And the space where the second silencer would go appears to be covered by a plastic panel that would need taken off.

The only thing that might cause problems is the diameter of the end of the back box and the diameter of the end of the centre section. I know on the Golf Mk5 they were different but you could get an adapter made up!!

Would definately be worth some investigating for when the exhaust finaly give up :)
