boot lid won't open

the key fob on my 2000 beetle opens the doors ok but not the boot the boot lock maes the normal whirring noise but does not open when you pull the lever. i'd be grateful for any help.:zx11:

my sister had a similar issue with hers, i took it to a mates and he found the motor in the back was shot and replaced it. however i had a similar problem with my ibiza i remedied it by spraying wd40 into the lock mechanism and that sorted it as the catch had seized but i dont know whether or not you can get at the locking catch on yours
