Bachu,

The PD130 engines are very good. No problems with mine whatsoever. Like you, my car has a PD130. My engine code is AWX, and it does have a 5 speed gearbox. I think AWX is the only PD130 with a 5 speed box.

AVF- 130 Bhp 6speed manual, has a 310 Nm output. AWX- 130 Bhp 5 speed manual, has 285 Nm output. The 6 speed is much stronger and its only fitted to sport models...and has a bigger clutch than the 5 speed one ! PD stands for pump duse aka unit injector, google search for more details.

I'm afraid your wrong there adamss24. Mine is a 5 speed and a Sport. It has all the Sport extras, sports seats, lumbar support, sport steering wheel, 17" 9 spoke sport alloys, and I have measured the ride height, it's lower than an SE too.

However you are right about the torque output, PD meaning, and the 6 speed does have a bigger clutch.

No not much at all. Some people complain that they are changing gears more often than they would like in the 6 speed with it's shorter ratios, but interestingly the 0-60 and top speed are exactly the same. If you get it re-mapped, that's when the advantage of having a 6 speed comes in, as the 6 speed's clutch can take more punishment.

i will more than likely re map the baby now i gota find a good one u think for a y reg 75k fsh se model 5 grand is to much it in silvery blue?????what the differences in the sport and se???

On my A6, the difference with the Sport over the SE is as follows:

Sports seats
3 spoke Sport steering wheel
Brushed aluminium gearknob sleeve
I think 20mm lower ride, or is it 30?
Stiffer springs
Usually different alloys

But if you get an SE Sport, (I don't know if they do an 'SE Sport' Passat, but they make an A6) you get lumbar support in the seats plus all the other Sport bits.

Seen as you're thinking of re-mapping you should try and get a 6 speed one.

u think 5 grand is a fair price for a y reg 75k 5 speed 130pd passat????as the prices for these car vary so much?

Reliability is fine, no question. It's just the 6 speed can be re-mapped to give more torque than the 5 speed. Not saying a 5 speed is bad, I've got one!

I'd say it's about right. Is it from a dealer? It's always to try some bargaining to see if they can get it taxed, serviced etc at their expense. Do you know when the timing belt would be due, that costs quite a lot if you can't do it yourself.
