Clunking noise from front end

I have just bought a 1999 A8 showing 80,000 miles. I have previously owned a S8. When I accelerate I get a clunk from the front and I get the same noise when I brake. I will have this looked at but I wondered if there was a common problem with A8s that would cause this clunking noise.

We have an Audi A8 2.8 Sport and we're experiencing the same problem!!
Already been to garage to have one of the bushes replaced (£125 incl. labour) and its now going to have to go back :mad:

It makes me wonder if the state of the roads has caused this. I only drive 3 miles to work, and on a main road too, but to dodge one set of pot holes means I end up bouncing in others....I'm sure this cannot be helping.
