Hi all...
I have a 1995 Jetta MK3. Yesterday I started the car up and it was making noise when turning the steering wheel. I opened the hood and power steering fluid was shooting(high pressure) out of the hole in the power steering cap. After turning the car off and opening the reservoir, the fluid was all foamy. I assumed there was a hole in the line somewhere, and found it where the hose runs across the front bumper, closer to the passenger side. A few questions...
Do you think the power steering pump is salvageable at this point, after driving it for about 100 miles like this?
Is there a way to turn off, or disconnect the power steering and just drive the car without it?
Recommendations for a fix?
Thanks for any help.
Charlie
