hi all,
i have a golf gt tdi 115 bhp on a 2001 "y". i have recently been experiencing problems with the car over heating and the climate control blowing cold when it is set to hot.
i have noticed the car only overheats when u drive it hard using the turbo through the gears or when going over about 90 - 100
i have tried putting a new thermostat in and doesnt seem to have resolved the problem
has any1 got any ideas wot it could be or have u had this problem????
thanks alot
Two main causes;
1, Faulty water pump, the impellor slips on the shaft resulting in a pump that does not pump.
2, Head gasket failure.
Neither are a cheap fix I'm afraid.

Hello mate. When was the last time it had a cam belt change. Because the water pump should have been changed then. If it was a long time ago then as the chap said above it could be the pump. Are you sure that it is not just a broken sensor saying that it is over heating. Have you draned and flushed the coolant system to make sure you do not have a blockage. Hope this is of some help.

£160 for a water pump change is really good, put a new cambelt kit on at the same time. When you put a new water pump in you will have to repalce the coolent.
