noises from the front

Hi . I have an audi a6 . m reg 1995 avanti . now my problem comes of the front end somewhere . if you stop and select reverse then goe backwards there is like a loud twang for want of a better description it does this two or three times when stops . if you then go forward it repeats the same thing for a few feet . any ideas any one . I think possibly worn anti roll bar bushes ? . regards william young
