High Mileage Polos

My daughter's V- Reg Polo 1.0 is just coming up to 100k miles and still going strong. She is asking if it will get to 200k without any problems. My own Passat is on 170k but who has got a high mileage Polo on this forum and what problems have they had getting there? Thanks

It will get there but not without problems.

ive got a g40 on 140k a gt on 122k, owned a coupes s with 155k on the clock, only major thing that has been replaced is the cambelt and head gasket. all off my other 5 or so polos ive owned have all had over 100k on the clock

Don't take this the wrong way Jon but the type 80 is a much stronger car than the type 6N.

have to agree! i owned a mk4 and went back to a mk3! even so, i still had 40k of trouble free motoring and sold it on with well over 100k on the clock.
common faults on the mk4s seem to be gearbox related or vws use of cheapo parts for things like the thermostat and ignition switch
