Hi again ok so i have a stock a3 1.8t 150 bhp quattro with 100,000 on the clock
ive had a bit of bother with suspension arms snapping both on the back due to seased bushes or somthing tie arms i think they were called, and kept on top of all service's and ive fixed the suspension problem at big cost's
im going to change the "cam" belt soon and its about to go in for its 100,000 mile service
once all this is done i "might" have a bit of cash to do some slight performance improvements so the question is......
what would make the best upgrades for my money its a 1999 if that helps
how long would the "cat" last before i need to change its 100000 and not been renewed yet
id rather have that standard car running 100 % before i upgrade well thats the idear i read somewhere that pre 2000 cars can't be remapped there just chipped ? is that true and is there anywhere in the north east of england that does this kind of "chipping" work ie newcastle upon tyne
and finaly would i be right in thinking that a cam belt change would cost between 350 local garage and 450-500-main dealer to do?
and one last question dose "chipping " your car make the fully comp insurance very very expensive ?

Hi Jez, firstly you say you have a 1999 a3 1.8t quattro with 150bhp, now as far as i no the 1.8t quattro's have 180bhp and the 1.8t fwd are 150bhp, and as far as i no about a re-map, you can have a re-map on this car (maybe only certain companies) but it just means that who ever does it will have to open up the ECU when they do it. Don't no if that helps but i thought i would let you no.:approve:

Hi, I think that could be a bit expensive for the cam belt because I just asked a garage local to me and for a cambelt kit, new water pump plus labour and the VAT was just under £300
