my 1990 mk2 golf gti 8v is making an annoying noise, it only does it when changing up the gears at high rpm 5000 and higher, never before that. Its like a groaning noise that seems to be coming from the engine bay. The gearbox is perfectly fine with no whining whatsoever or crunching. the car also has a new clutch that has only covered 1000 miles. the car pulls very strongly through the gears with no other faults bar this one. Its worrying me slightly and is putting me off driving it, a friend of mine said it could be the engine mount or gearbox mount? what do you fellas reckon? Your help on this would be most appreciated.
