That smoothed tailgate looks the dogs, nice touch.

Basscrazy
06-04-2008, 10:38 AM
yea my best bit i argued with so many saying remove handle keep logo but i thought it looked too much like a big round button

What prompted me was handle was broken and actually corroded into the boot so when it was removed took with it some paint so thought f++ it i will smooth it all off

So in a way glad handle was broken and poor quality (i see its a common issue) As wiper was spraying inside boot which i fixed

modified central locking?

how has it affected the insurance?

Basscrazy

Why the R32 badge if you dont have an R32 motor in it?! Surely thats s little bit sad....

Basscrazy
17-05-2008, 08:34 PM
whys that exactly.... at 21 really think i can afford a r32 lump in it NO so what if i like the look of the r32 do i have to have the engine to make it look like one NO so tell me hows it sad exactly

Issac Hunt
17-05-2008, 08:41 PM
It is sad! Sure enjoy the body mods, they look very good but dont try to make it look like something its not. What do you say when someone says 'nice R32 mate'?

Upbadging cars should be a crime!

Basscrazy
17-05-2008, 08:47 PM
i say to them its a replica as i stated on here and anyone that asks me if its going to be a replica then why would it have no badges you really are quite sad yourself mate its not upbadging as i see you put on all your posts to everyone its a replica its a world of difference mate it will be 210bhp that will do me fine replicas without badges are not true spec exterior replicas otherwise i would of gone on ebay and bought some tatty body kit i think not if i state to everyone its a replica and state to everyone its a 1.4 the issue is where

No where think you should learn to change your ways mate you wont get anywhere in life going upbadging errr in every post

I know I am not going to be popular, but never mind. Basscrazy I think the car looks B E A Utiful but I am a with Isaac (you know Isaac I only just twigged your name :p:p:p) leave out the R32 badge. I know you say it is a replica, but it really does not need those badges.

My present signature [I]plastic pig is just that. I go to quite a few classic car shows and am very open minded on people's cars as they are very personal and subjective if you are a petrol/diesel head, but there are a group of MR2 owners who turn their very very good Toyotas into plastic Ferraris. They badge em they bodge em with crap fitting plastic stick on bits and put stupid and possibly dangerous wheel spacers on to make them look like a Ferrari 355. To top it off they have Ferrari flags around the pitch and all wear Ferrari regalia. OK rant over but I think it is the one thing we should not do with cars.

Tis a nice motor you have though and one you would look three or four times at ;)

Basscrazy
17-05-2008, 10:21 PM
disagree 100% its just a different opinion its not sad i put a badge on its just not to everyones taste i think its far from sad its just not what some would do

nope a piddly basic 1.4 s :D
nothing "piddly" about the work you've put into it,or the money you must have spent on it.;)
i have read the entire thread and i am disappointed by the attitude of some posts, although everyone is entitled to hold, and, express thier views. but they seem to miss just what you have done with your time, and money, when so many other 21yr olds would have p***ed it up against a wall.
ok, so it hasn't got the engine it says it has.
how many 21yr olds could ever afford to either buy,or run one?
i'm 54 and i couldn't do it.
i take my hat off to you bass.
i think it's great.
to quote a mag i have started reading,---"it's built, not bought".
i couldn't have done that, and neither could so many others.
well done i say, and no doubt,if you aren't put off, many more to come
in the future.
i just hope i'm still around to see them.:D
well done bass,it's great.
regards,
stewy.

nice job mate :biglaugh: im 18 and used to have a 1.4s myself in black, and made it into an r32 replica untill the engine finally died  so now iv got a golf mkV 08 plate 1.9 tdi that im in the process of making into a GTI replica, and my dad has a 180bhp golf tdi mkiv that he is making into a r32 replica, all those who say replicas are stupid......get a life and a girl because they dont realise the effort that goes into these things

anyway, positive criticisms

you need some clear side indicators and r32 rear lights and it will be almost spot on, have you lowered it at all? and may i suggest milltek r32 style twin exhaust system, it sounds great!! spesh thru tunnels, pricey but worth it, oh and a front valance lip, gives it more of a sporty look than normal r32's

but ye good job:beerchug:

oh, and, xenons, definately need r32 hid's, lol, and the headlight washer covers on the front,
the r32 badge needs moving to the left a bit to be perfect
and the calipers painting blue
and 150mm wing mirrors that are found on the r32

ok im done lol

oh and by the way, where did you get the number plate holder? cant seem to find one anywhere!!!:1zhelp:
vw say they dont do them anymore:(

As above. When I was 17 i had a 1.4 orion, which i spent a fortune on with an rs kit, alloys, paint job etc. Ive had many many cars since, but none that i loved as much as that. Car looks great mate, keep us posted. Chris.

If i had made a 1.4 Golf look that good i would paint R32 on the roof with JCB yellow and say stuff the rest of them. I think you have some jealous admirers there my boy, car looks great, big money spent, stacks of time invested and as it's your car you do what the hell you want. Credit to you pal.
VW would be proud i expect. :beerchug:
