1.4TDI preheat warning light problems

I have a Seat Arosa 1.4 TDI and it has started flashing the preheat warning light. It is intermittent, may only flash once or twice in a journey, when cars hot or cold. The engine seems to missfire at same time . The light is only on for a second or so. Any thoughts, help!

Hi Steve,

I would say it is the temp sender with an intermittant fault as these are common, would be worth putting it on a diagnostic machine to check the faults. They are about £20 - £25 and not that difficult to fit.
