:1zhelp:I have just completed a replacement of 4 cams lots of other parts had the injectors serviced, on an 156,000mile AKE 2.5 v6 TDI . I never saw the car running befoer I bought it so it may of smoked very bad then. I will ask the firm that I bought it from, if it was smoking/useing oiler before it was taken of the road to get the cams sorted out.
Fired it up today and it smokes very bad when revved and appears not to have much power. It is also appears idling just a little too fast.
Its not quite as bad as when the seals when on my G40 supercahrger, but it is pretty blue.
I have looked at the following.
There appears to be no oil in the pipes arfter the intercooler.
I removed the output from the turbo and glanced in and there appeared to be no excess oil, but I can't 100% rule out the turbo. If I pull it off does anyone have any pictures of the likely suspect seal and are these available for diy service?
There is maybe 1-1.5litres to much oil in the engine that may be being drawn up and burnt.
However I suspect either valve stem seals have worn due to the metal debris from the damaged cams.
Anyone got any idears on this?
I spoke to a local Diesel specialist and he suggested I may need to just go a really cook the engine has the smoke coudl be from all the incorrectly fuel carbon deposit in the exhaust and manifolds so will need a lot of heat to reduce this. I not used any noticeable oil during my tests so far.
The EGR channel in teh inlet manifold was heavily carbed up from where the exhaust gas cools down, maybe the turbo is like this?
I have run the car for upto 10-15min at a time maybe a little longer idling, and drive a very short distance no possibility of boosting it. It is current without mot so I don't want to take it for a longer spin on the road. At the moment it will not pass an emissions test as the tester will be gassed before he fits the probe!
Does anyone have any suggestions.
I would rather not have to take the heads of but its looking that way. Does anyone know of any head refurbishers who have done the v6 tdi heads before and done a good? I will need the valves/guids checking and new valve stem seals I think.
I not sure whether to have the whole engine out for a full rebuild. I have fitted a new oil pump
And to top[ it off when adjusting the timing on the diesel pupm I dropped my allen key into the belts so I will have to strip that off before I can do anything with it:zx11:
