rear door won't open

I have a 2005 jetta that we have just repaired the rear skin and replaced the front skin on, reassembled, locked the doors and all doors but rear door open.
The lock is working, at least the cable is but door won't open. Any ideas. Thanks.

It's happened on my Passat and it turned out to be the cable sticking, it seems the outer sheath of the cable was damaged and preventing it moving freely. Had a new cable fitted under warranty and it's been fine since.

Have a read of this thread it seems a few of us have experienced the fault but with differing causes.
