thermostat audi a6

I changed the thermostat, put everything back together, the car won't start, I took out a plug and there is no spark..........................any ideas

1996.......................don't understand engine code, is this from a plug in computer?, or a number on the engine?

Engine code is in the rear footwell on the sticker or in the handbook.

Normally a three letter code
