hello everyone i need some advice on a problem i think i may have with my golf
i have a golf mk 4 gt tdi 130 on a 52 plate with 40k on the clock. when i start the car in the mornings or when the engine is cold the engine shakes alot. i have looked in to this further and i can see that the gearbox unit it self it shaking and making a rattling noise causing the engine to shake.when the car is warm and has been driven it stops making the noise and shaking.
iv had a cambelt change on it and it has been serviced as well
is the shaking normal due to the cold weather or could there be a problem.
anyone got any ideas

would be a greathelp to hears some replys

cheers.

it's the lower gearbox mount, the bush will be worn. Just replaced mine, cost £50 inc vat for part and labour.

No problem...
Yes it's quite a common fault, the extra torque generated by the diesel engine causes the engine to try and twist, which in turn wears the bush out. Mine's a 2000 on a V with 80k on it.
Got the work done at a non VW dealer, but they are a specialist and have done all the tuning on my car. VW charge about £60 just for the part, and it takes about 15 mins to change it.
Get it done, makes it a lot better!:beerchug:

Does it stop shaking when you press the clutch?
Heard about an ECU change/reprogram to reduce this problem.

yep, but only after a couple of minutes when cold, then stops when the engine is warm.

yeah mine does the same to.

but the difference with mine is that i will start the car then 1min no later then 2min after the car is started it will shake with out fail

but i have started to not leave the car idle on start up just start it up leave it for about 20-30secs then drive off slowly keeping the revs low seems to work see how it goes.

Sounds about right. Will check with my local VW dealer in Swansea(excellent btw) about this ecu re-program that I have heard about to cure this vibration when warming up..

I have a 2005.5 jetta TDI, and my engine has a violent shake after about 20 minutes of driving...when the engine is warm. Could this be the same problem? VW has had my car for several days, checking for fuel issues and other things and they cannot find any issues. I think i've had this problem since I got the car last year, but it seems to be worse lately.

Thanks for any suggestions.
