Question
I have a 00 vw beetle and my alarm remote batteries died for a couple months and I lost my programming for the alarm
when i put the key in the ignition and turn it, the alarm goes off.
How can I program the remote so it works again. I just got new alarm remote!
You can use the '2 key' method.
Turn on the ignition with the key you aren't programming. (dont start the car)
Close the drivers door, and using the key you want to program, lock the door..
Press a button on the remote (not boot release button), wait 2 seconds then press a button again.
The alarm will 'beep' and the indicators will flash.
Unlock the car and turn off the ignition.
(Simply pressing 'lock' or 'unlock' on the remote, then immediately unlocking the car may also sync the remote)

my driver door key lock is broken though
You could try using the passenger door.

The passenger door has no key to open the beetle.
Even the driver door has no key, The previous owner took the key lock out and now its keyless entry only!

You will need 2 keys to do this, one in the door and one in the igntion. I think you hold one while pushing the button on the fob the car should beep twice telling you its been programmed.
