Brake fluid type??

Hi

I took my mums A3 to a garage for a brake fluid change recently. I noticed them putting dot 4 fluid in.... is this correct?

I just want to check the right fluid has gone in. I always have my A4 done at a VW dealers and the pedal feels solid and the brakes very sharp, The A3 pedal seems soft and squishy in comparison.

Any comments appreciated.
