I have a 2003 audi A3, 1.9 TDI 130 SE. Can anyone tell me if the computer display should show the outdoor temperature? When I turn it on, it runs through all the checks, then the screen ges blank and nothing shows up. The handbook seems to suggest that temperature should be shown, but does anyone know? ALso, what could be wrong?

I've just purchased an 01 A3 1.6 Sport and wondering the same thing, as you say the handbook suggests it should. Haven't had a chance to check for the sensor yet. If it makes any difference it's a manual without the driver information system.

Thanks

Think I've answerd my own question. Parkers shows that the temperature sensor was an optional extra costing £107

So, being a girl and all, where would i check to see if a sensor has actually been fitted?

Hi Kel, I the first generation a3's it's attached to the foglight cover or blank on LHS of the car. It looks like a little ball snapped into the cover from behind with a cable attached. In latter models I would imagine that it is in a similar position.
