Hi

Almost all VAG group diesel engines are very reliable units, as long as they are maintained correct. So if your prospective purchase has full VW dealer service history, you should be OK there;)

As for known faults, I can only think of 2 "minor" problems that we get comments on, and they are the Air Flow Meters, which are very common across the entire VAG range, and the window winder mechanism clips break, which cause the windows to drop down, but this has been modified as far as I am aware from plastic to metal clips.

Other than that, you will have a very reliable car.

Thanks

Stuart

cheers for that stuart
guess i've already made me mind up to go for it.
was concerned mainly because i've heard that vw had a few reliability problems in recent years.
this is probably a daft question but, never having had a diesel before..
do i drive it any differently ?
