Hello this is my first post so forgive me if i muck it up!!
We have a Golf MK3 16v we have just purchased this car knowing it needed work but we are a bit stumped as when the car is not running the gears can be selected but when its running its like your frozen out & you cant select any??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
We have been told to bleed the clutch, is this correct & is there a correct way of doing this??
Thank you in advance Katie.:D

What Kenny was probably going on to say is that the clutch disk is stuck to the pressure plate and flywheel.

It sounds violent but to sort this;

Make sure there is lots of room as you don't want to crash into anything.

Put the car in 1st gear.

Push the clutch in

And attempt to start it in gear.

The theory is that it will shock a stuck clutch plate free.

We have done that as that is what father in law thought but did not resolve the problem, they have also tried bleeding the clutch but to no avail??

Hi Do you have any pressure on the clutch pedal?

Only the resistance of the spring on the pedal!

Then it is possible you will need either a new clutch pump or a new slave cyl.
