Watched Fifth Gear this week with a bit from the Geneva motor show.
It was brief but they had the new Scirocco on.
I think it looked better than the pictures floating around the press at the minute.

They should have stuck with the original IROC concept cars nose and grille . That said the engine options seem quite good with either a 200 bhp 2.0l petrol turbo or a 170bhp turbo diesel to be fitted.
If they do the green one it may be my retirement present to myself in a few years time.

Imagine having an accident with the original IROC nose... it would cost thousands to replace... although I agree it would have been cool to keep it...

I hope they launch with a Diesel model, and if anyone can confirm that I will be going down to to my local ******* and placing an order... my Passat is 3 years old in September and ripe for change... just as this comes out...

I have read that the Mint green concept colour is going to be made an option though...

I agree, I liked the IROC nose but VW reckon it looked too aggressive.

What amazes me is that in this month's evo magazine they reckon that each Scirocco is going to be cheaper than an engine equivalent Golf. How refreshing.

I like it, but its just not a coupe, its more of a squashed Golf in my opinion. I'd still have one though, especially if they bring out a 3.2!!

Posted this in the other thread

I am looking at one of these at the moment and should have some feedback from my local dealer next week as they are going to look at the car in the flesh. Pricing should be available soon. Apparently the 2 engines from launch will be the 2.0 ltr Diesel (170 bhp) I assume and the 1.4 TFSI 170Bhp which is the one I am interested in. Diesel not all it's cracked up to be IMHO at todays prices anyway (small rant)

In addition to this if you go to VW world web site (international one) there is a nice presentation about it covers the engine line up, interior etc. The UK site is not as upto date as the worldwide one...

Prices are going to be interesting, I have heard they may start as low as 18k for the entry level 1.4 TFSI 170. Though I expect any car to hit 20k min with half / full leather, bluetooth, cruise, etc.....

Anyone got any more information there must be more out there about this car....

I think the Diesel is going to be the 140 to start with even the new Audi's are 140 at the min the new Diesel is not out in 170 but I could be wrong ( More often than not).

Spoke to my VW Dealer while I was in for service the other week and they did say all dealerships were being made to have a demonstrator so should be easy to get a go in one and see one in the flesh when they finally release it.
Shame that's gonna be September when all the good weather is going I think they messed that one up.
