View Full Version : Which VAG-COM lead?

I recently purchased a 2004 Passat 130 TDi (previous shape model) and after a couple of weeks the airbag warning light came on.

Would a lead such as this one off ebay work, Link (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-Diagnostic-vag-com-OBD-II-Interface-VW-AUDI-vagcom_W0QQitemZ320232085766QQihZ011QQcategoryZ309 21QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), coupled with VAG-COM 409.1 software or does my vehicle require a later type can-bus lead?

I only want to carry out basic checks on the system such as fault code reading and clearing.

Thanks for any advice,

Pete

Your car does not require CAN for diagnostics.

Version 409 will be OK on your car, but I won't vouch for any Chinese lead sold of fleaBay. ;-)

I sell 3rd party vagcom leads and I can assure you of %100 quality, all leads are quality checked, drivers are supplied and have been tested with vagcom shareware 409, not an issue at all.

if you want to order one, drop me a PM or Email and I'll sort you out

Hi Eshrules,

I have a 2004 Audi A3 2.0 Tdi Sport.

Can you tell me which Vag Com cable I need and how much they are?

Also, would the same cable work on a 2003 Audi A3 1.9 Tdi Sport?

Many thanks in advance!!

Hi Eshrules,

Apologies if I'm being dumb but I'm still struggling to work out which cable I need. Is it a CAN BUS cable?

If so, how much are you selling these for and will it work with a 2003 Audi A3 1.9 Tdi?

Many thanks for your help and speedy reply!

Hi Eshrules,

Ok, my problem is that I have a 2004 Audi A3 and my old fella has a 2003 Audi A3.

Does this mean I will need a seperate cable for each Audi?

If so, are they both £15.99?

Thanks for all your help!

uwe how much would it cost to send the cable from the us to scotland ?

might still be cheaper buying it direct from you. works out as £179 before import tax so looking at around £210 with vat. cheap ones are working out at around that before vat added so it works out at around £250 ( $500 )

I don't see an explicit listing for Scotland in our web-store. Although I understand that William Wallace (http://blog.tmcnet.com/blog/tom-keating/images/braveheart.jpg) would object, I suspect as far as the shipping companies are concerned, it's part of the UK. So shipping should cost $42.75.

Hi guys, I have a 2006 1.9td touran, I've been trying to fing the correct lead, unfortunatly I,m not sure which I need, all the information I've looked at give me 2 different options (Touran(1T) and Touran), all I want it for is checking fault codes and resetting lights, and although I don't consider myself tight I refuse to line the main dealers pockets just to reset a light.

Waffle over, can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I can get a lead and the relevant software, Ebay is full of them, but im not 100% sure they are reliable.

Many thanks in advance.

Only place for a lead for 2006 1.9td touran is ross-tech. You can buy from UK distributors like gendan and ilexa Cost a bit over £300 these days. If you buy from ebay you will end up regretting it.

Thanks for the fast response, I was thinking about this http://www.auteltech.com/vag405.htm but not sure if i's compatible, In all honesty I wouldnt touch the ones on ebay, ive heard too many bad things about them.

Get yourself a genuine VCDS Hex & Can Lead. That way you can be sure your lead will work, plus you'll have the latest software & label files.
