As this is a new to me car and don't have any history, I should have the timing belt done I think.
Could anybody suggest what make of belt I should use and should I change the tensioner and water pump while its in bits.
How much should a belt change cost, I can do the belt on an Astra in 20 mins but I don't fancy messing the Audi up.
Cheers,
Marc.

Hi Marc,
Replacment interval is every 55,923 miles and tensioner should be replaced too. Water pump isn't driven by timing belt. Book time is 1 hr 54 mins. You will need fuel pump locking pins, drill bits often do.
As for brand, Gates, Continental, SKF are OK as are other major brands. You might be able to get a timing belt kit which will include tensioner and any other parts VAG recommend are replaced.
PM me your email address and I can send you the autodata diagrams and instructions.
Once you've replaced it, use Tipex to write date and mileage changed on cambelt cover for future reference. :D
Cheers,
Peter
