Passat tow bar

Can anyone tell me if a tow bar from a 2002 Audi A6 Estate will fit a 2007 Passat Estate.

I suspect not as aren't towbars customised for car models? I reckon that where you would mount the towbar would be different on an older A6 to a new Passat.
