Just had the climatronic unit checked by a main dealer who said the unit is faulty and will need replacing, £400 apparently? -then it needs to be fitted.

This seems a lot, is anyone familiar with the cliamtronic system?

The screen back light comes on when the lights are on, but the screen is blank. It still seems to do some sort of control, and responds to some of the buttons...

comments/advice welcome

Scour the breakers yards for a second hand one from a similar model/year.Make shure its the same serial/part number ! Then the unit will need coding-easy to do with a cheap interface and old laptop+ a copy of vag com. Scan the AC unit first for fault codes and you could see if resetting to the factory values makes any difference. Also note the code definitions and post them on the forum. Good luck.

Thanks adamss, do you have details of a good place to get a cheap interface lead?

Someone recomended:

Seem to be some fault codes here:

The dealer who scanned it this morning said there were no faults with the system. Would be interesting to see.

cheers.
