went for drive today, got about 10 miles from home and car started to hesitate and missfire at anything over 3500rpm,managed to get it home and looked at carb(WEBBER) i could see the inlet manifold was v hot touched it and it was. i burnt my finger, was thinking that there should be a heatshield between the exhaust and inlet manifolds, can anyone shed some light on this prob

the misfire is very unlikely to be the result of a hot inlet manifold, the engine runs better with it hot cos the fuel vapourises easier. i can't remember if a carb engine is fitted with a heatshield or not sorry.

sorted it out now had the wrong main jet in the carb

the inlet mani will always get hot due to where it is,

what your really want is a tubular exhaust manifold heat wrapped and a heat sheld as this will reduce under bonnet temps, and induction temps leading to more power, plus the hotter exhaust gasses will flow faster too leading to more power
