beetle owner in need of help

i have just brought a vw beetle 1972 1302s in need of restoring.i have made a start on the inside stripping it out n have come to the engine.i taken the airfilter off and it had oil and water in it,the car had been in a garage for 8years i am wondering if anyone as any idears on what it could be if so it would be a great help to me.thankyou for lookin

Hi There should be oil in the air filter but not water.If the engine has been standing for 8 years the water could have come from anywhere, might just be condensation.

thanks for the reply mate there was quite alot of oil in the airfilter is that normel am not 2 good with engines

If i remember correctly ther is a level marking,the oil level should be just below the filter netting
