I have a 1992 Jetta, 1.8, manual transmission, that will turn over, but wont start. I have fuel, no spark. I have power at the Hall sensor. How do I check to see if the coil is getting power? Thanks in advance.

disconnect the coil lead and leave attatched on the body if there is a spark then the coil works

No luck, no spark there.

sorry disconnect the coil lead from the dizzy cap then rest on body and see if sparks if not you need new coil

you should get +12v on the +15 side of the coil,black wire i think,if no power to coil there wont be a spark
