Audi Allroad (...to 2005) - Air Compressor

Hi ... I am interested in purchasing a second hand A6 Allroad but have a concern about the Air Compressor reliability ....

How regularly do they fail ? What is the expected life if they are replaced ?

Anyone out there with an Allroad and some expereinces willing to share?

The aircompressor is located jus forwards of the spar tyre(as a metter of fact the spare is a comapct one just to facilitate the compressor)
The compressor works only if the alraos does 30km/hour or faster. (so yoy never hear it run) It never breakks down unless you have a leaking airsuspension (becouase that the comressor constantly has to suply leaking air to keep the car up)
So always insure youself the airsuspension does not leak and your compressor is ok
