1998 GOLF GL wont START.. PLS HELP

I recently bought a VW GOLF.. I decided to wash the engine and the car was running fine. After washing the engine the car does not start. I have no idea what the problem is. Hopefully someone on here might be able to help me out and lead me in the right direction.

HAD THE SAME PROBLEM MYSELF.USED TO BE A CAR VALETER AND THIS WAS COMMON.THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION IS TO BLOW ALL THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS WITH COMPRESSED AIR THEN USE WD40 OR SOMETHING SIMILAR TO EXPELL ANY STUBBORN MOISTURE.IT WILL BE HIT AND MISS BUT 99% OF THE TIME THIS HAS ALWAYS CURED IT.DID A GTI ONCE AND IT TOOK A WEEK BEFORE IT FINALLY DRIED OUT AND STARTRD SO PERSEVERE....
