A4 Reversing lights stay on!

My reversing lights stay on all the time...even when driving forwards. How do I fix this, please? Any ideas?

Have you had a tow hitch fitted recently? If so its probably something to do with that, failing that you may have water ingress?

Thanks very much for your response. No I haven't had a tow bar fitted, I'll look into the water ingress suggestion.

could be that the reverse switch is stuck open?
