Hi,

1995 Audi 80 1.9TDi

Engine takes a long time to warm up, even after driving 5 miles in rush hour traffic temp gauge has barely moved. It never manages to get up to 90C.

What are the opening and closing temperatures for the thermostat for the cooling system?

Next, where in the cooling system is it located?

Thanks,

Peter

Dont worry about it as its normal for a tdi to run cool. The only way to warm the tdi engine is to put it under load.

Mine is the same but the heater blows hot so I've never worried about it.

While I have had 4 different 80 petrols, the temp guage hasn't been something to reply much on... some of them worked great, one hardly at all, and other was intermittant. If you hear the fan kicking in when you would expect it to, then that could be a sign that the guage is a bit faulty.
