I have just looked into this too, for obvious reasons.:D

Mine will still be in band F because band G is only for cars registered on or after 23/03/06 and over 225 g/km.

When was yours registered?

I get a discount too because mine is duel fuel.

All this has done to me is to stop me buying a new car, which I can't afford anyway.

Oh, I am sure it has increased the value of mine.

So as far as I understand this, a 2001 2.7T will stay in band F as it was registered before the date?

This is not as bad as I thought as I was going to struggle to justify £400+ for tax.

I really did not want to have to change the car - although moving to a pre-1973 car now looks like an interesting option.

Is yours pre march 2001 or post march. if post march it will be 400 pre mar01 then 200

its not just year but month to.

The VED site says that the new huge increase will only affect cars registered after 23rd March 2006, so in which case as a 2001 registrant I stay in band F even though the amount of carbon dioxide I emit per km is pretty big.

I cannot justify £400 for tax as well as all the other expenses for driving what is a fabulous car...

I will see if I can get an answer from direct.gov, but I won't hold my breath!

Band G is only for cars registered after 23rd March 2006.

Pre March 2006 cars will remain in band F.

If your car is pre this date it can kick out 500g/km but will only be £210 per year or £195 if you have converted it to lpg ;)

There is a whole set of new (and very expensive bands) for all cars registered after 23/3/06. Big hikes in the offing for you people!

Maybe its also time to look at LPG conversion...

Bit nervous with a 2.7T though...
