ok here is my problem ,i thought my A4 2.5tdi (180) was normal and as fast as it should be, never having driven or owned a fast car! i was a little dissapointed but thought nothing of it. Anyway it was recently in Auto Deutsch in manchester and he drove it to check on a rattle with the suspension and said its grossly underpowered and and doesnt pick up from low revs like it should. Ive read as many existing threads on this problem as i can and can see this power loss is a common problem with the 2.5s .
As i understand it can be a few different things. It seems Air Flow Meter is the first one to check, ive done this by disconnecting and seeing if the power returns ,it didnt, does this mean i can totally rule this out?? I also know it could be turbo related and am going to take my turbo to a turbo shop for inspection/cleaning .There is probably a lot of other things it could also be,Diagnosis at specialist threw up Potentiometer in V71-G113 Open/short to posotive!??! dont know what this is or wheter is related.
I dont think my car is going into limp mode like some peoples had done on this forum, just feels generally gutless and no throttle response from low revs.
A Citreon Picasso did me at the lights yesterday, help! :1zhelp:

Took mine into audi for something and the mechanic who drove it said mine was the same, booked it in for another day and they changed MAF,egr valve and solenoid and the ecu.
My car is 05 a4 2.5tdi multitronic

thanks david i will try to explore those problems to see if any of that is causing this. I cant really afford to take mine to audi so am tring some specialists but havent found one good enough to confidently diagnose. I obviously dont want parts fitted that wont fix the problem! i guess this process of elimination is sometimes the only way though. Can you remember how much Audi charged you for the MAF,EGR valve, Solenoid and ECU?

yikes! hope mine is a quick fix with either maf or turbo vanes sticking or something, i guess most of the money on your fix must have been the ECU. Thanks for your help david, its really appreciated.
