Hi, I've just had a diagnostic done on my car, as the engine management light came on. It' an 02 A4 2.0 Petrol. Noticed the heater isn't fabulous and takes ages for any real heat to come out.

Anyway the codes i have been given are:

17887 P1479 008 Sporadic Fault
17700 P1292 004 Sproadic Fault
18010 P1602 002 Voltage Supply K1.30 Voltate too low Sporadic Fault
16500 P0116 008 Coolant temp-sender-G62 Implausible Signal, sporadic fault (The guy did say it could be the temp sender, water pump?

Can someone explain to a wee girly what the hell this means??! The man reset the dash so the engine managment light didn't show any more and just said that if it comes back on, to book it and they'll strip it down.

I've only had the car since April and it's only done 40,000, was kind of hoping it wouldn't need anything doing for a while. What I'm worried about is i do some serious distance driving, so can't afford to break down, should i be worried about any of the above?
Any advice would be much appreciated.:zx11: :beerchug:

The coolant tempeture sensor is a common fault and cheep to replace, it a dual sensor one for dash and one for ECU. the G62 fault is the ecu side, so you need to get it replaced as the ecu uses it to judge fuel delivery to the engine.
Sensor costs around £15 oem or £30 from a dealer, plus fitting of coarse.

You can look up the codes and a brief explanation here.

Thanks for that, it has helped explain things. Looks like i'm off to get a G62 then! Do you know if it is easy to fit, or do i need to go to the garage and pay a fortune!

Its a clipped in sensor should take no longer than 10mins and a topup of the coolant. find a freandly mechanic, shouldn't cost too much if you get the part first and just ask nicely.
