Hi, I hope someone can help me.

I have a 1999 S3 which is currently running on a set of BBS 19 inch alloys. I feel that this slides a lot when corning - not even at speed . I am comparing this to my S4 which had 18s.

Does anyone know if the handling suffers alot because of the large alloys?

If so am I best buying 17s or 18s?

Please let me know

Thanks

Hi Sandy

It will be sliding because of the lack of side wall flex in the tyres. Your car will have had the suspension set up for 18" wheels max and the lack of give in the 19" tyres will make your car skip and slide. I have a 2004 A3 with 19s on and it looks great, but understeers like mad and you have to drive it a certain way to get the best out of it. Thats why you rarely see a Jap car (Evos etc) on anything larger than an 18 as it destroys the handling, most track Evos run 17s.
So if you want the best handling i would down grade.
Hope this helps.

John.

Thanks John

This is what I thought and I am waiting on my 17s being fitted.

Anyone looking for a set of BBS 19s with goodyear eagle f1's on them with lots of tread. Cost over £200 a tyre about two months ago for the front pair?

Hi, sorry for delay.

Here are some pictures, as you can see there is some scratches. Two tyres are like new and the other two aren't.

I have also attched a piture with them on the car so you can see what they are like on.

AS for the price make me an offer.

It is difficult to see clearly but I would say you have an alignment issue from the wear pattern on those tyres.
