For a long time i've been wondering about this. I see lots of Mk 2s about with the big bumpers on, but to be completely honest, I really prefer the smaller bumpers. I've always thought the bb makes the car look, dunno quite how to put it, a bit thick. Kinda like a numptie with his chin sticking out and knuckles dragging. No offense to all those who prefer the bb of course, but to me the thinner one with that little chin spoiler down below just looks the dogs danglies.

So what say you folks, honest opinions please. Am I the only one with this strange chin spoiler fetish? Should I shape my goatee into a chin spoiler shape and dye it black? Answers on a postcard please.

While i'm about it, what lighting arrangement do you all prefer? Personally methinks you just can't beat the four headlight grille, with those two little full beam spots. Boodiful.

I did like the big bumpers my dad's Jetta had years ago, but now I own my own small bumper Golf I wouldn'y change it for the world. All I need is some good bumper restorer, as mine is very grey. Any ideas?

small bumpers looks a bit goofy but if it's low wiv wide wheels then it does look good.

My bad boy with the small bumpers.

Quite pleased with the shine I got on a 21 year old beaut!

Bought for £380 with 92k on the clock!

Needs some engine work. New cambelt + Weber carb, but runs great once warmed up!

Love her to bits!
Would always keep the small bumpers, just need a nice polish 4 them.

Colour Magic red after some serious buffing work with T-Cut and a polishing machine.

Excellent, so I'm not the only one then.

MacMillion, try Tutle Wax black bumper & trim wax. I used it on mine and the results were pretty good. I don't think anything would look as good as a replacement bumper but the turtle wax worked pretty well for me. From your pic, it doesn't look too discoloured. Should come up a treat.
