ref earlier post on A3 power window dead , 2d A3 1997.
What have happended since last is this ;
Found short circuit to ground for two wires at central locking pump/interior lights unit at rear, behind right side boot panel. Tight fit here, make sure wires don`t chafe against nearby body details as they did on mine. This had caused blown fuse nr 6 (central locking). Due to the short, the fuse would blow imediately after replacement and therefore escaped my attention earlier. Fixed short circiut and replaced fuse, and power windows work again. But the "one click on switch, window all the way down or up" -function failed. I had to continuesly press the buttons to operate windows. Solution: ignition off, press down and hold both window switches at driver side, and crank the engine! Solved! Seems weird I know. But it now works as intended. Thanks to those who helped with tips.
