Well I finally picked up my A4 3.0 Sport Cab on thursday and first impressions are great. Managed 34.9MPG from pick up in London to Sheffield via Matlock and Chatsworth, which is better then my ALFA 166 TS use to do on a long run.

The car is over 4 and half years old with 44K, so I am going to get the cambelt done by Swifts an Audi specialist in Sheffield for £499 inc vat including water pump and tensioner. Incidentally Stafford Audi will do the whole job for £563 inc vat which if I lived a little closer I would be asking them to do it. Gilders quoted over £750 and wouldn't price match.

Can anyone confirm if I am right or not regarding car tax. For a 3.0 registered before the March 2006 will be Band F and pay £215 for the year , going up by £5 later this year and £5 next year.

If registered after this time it's considered band G, £300 and then £400 later in year.
It seems the goverment will be shaming us out of our high polluting cars before long.

The ambient lights, how do I know if I have them. I have two small red leds that shine down from the light console on to my hand and gearstick?

Regards

those small red lights are ambient lights. they just make it so you can see where you are putting your hand when its normally very dark inside the car.
