Hi all,

Hoping to move over from vw forum soon to audi.

Had a test drive in a Audi 2.0 TDI I currently drive Passat tdi 130 pd and IMHO the passat engine feels to have more low down torque, are these new tdi 140 engines as good as the old 130 pd engines and secondly are the 140 engines PD ?.The engines on the 140 seem to be louder than the old 130 or is it just me:Blush2:

any help much appreciated

I have a 130 PD in my A6. I like it. I was in my mates A3 Sportback with the 2.0 TDI PD engine and that was definitely noisier, but maybe that's because it was the 170bhp version not the 140bhp.

I have a newish A4 Tdi 140, and as far as I can see, the PD 130 engine was generally better all round. I had this engine in a B6 A4, and it was far more economical on short and long journeys, and also a bit quieter on tcikover cold and hot. The TDI 140 performs okay though.

I have the 170 and my honest advice would be that for fuel economy, driveability and refinement the 8 valve 1.9 is better.

The B7 2.0 TDi is PD but the new generation engine in the VW Tiguan, B8 A4 and TT is now common rail.
