I have a 2000 Felicia 1.9diesel non-turbo. When the accelerator is pressed hard there is rattling and white smoke, easing back on the accelerator stops the smoke and rattling.
Is this likely to be fuel/timing problem? Any ideas - thanks.

White smoke sounds like oil problems! Possibly piston seals may have gone.

And rattling could be anything, where is the rattling coming from? Does it rattle at all at idle?

Also yes it could be a timing issue, the cambelt may have slipped. But it could be a multitude of things.
When was the cambelt last changed? And when was the car last serviced and what mileage is on the car?

Cheers

Craig

Hi Craig,

Thanks for your reply but the problem turned out to be the EGR valve stuck open. Strangely fitting a new one didnt cure the problem but blanking it off sorted it out. It now runs very smoothly and doesnt smoke at all.
Its done 133000 miles, cambelt done at 120000.

Andy;)
