I've noticed a couple of times that my temp gauge has been at 90 (in a 1.9tdi 130bhp) and then dropped to approx 50 - 60 then risen back up to 90. Spoke to dealer and they say that it could be caused by the fact that when the engine is warming up the supply to the radiator is switched off to enable a quicker warm up, when it is at the correct temperature the supply to the radiator cuts in and the sudden influx of cold water from the radiator could have caused the brief drop then rise in temperature. Has anybody could across this before, last time it happened I had been driving for 10 minutes at 70mph and the temp gauge had been at 90 for a few minutes. Are the dealers trying to fob me off?
