Hi, i think is built in toghether with the airmass meter. Left hand side on top of the airbox you should see a black box that made by Bosch. Thats the MAF+the air temp sensor. Will cost a fair bit from the dealer or you could get a rebuilt one for about 60/70 % of the dealer asking price.

Dont touch it as you will do more damage. Clean the conectors with a electronics cleaner -non rezidue(spray) from your local Maplin and spray the rest of it inside the MAF working the flap. The air temp sensor its on the side(valve with the black hose and with the 2 pin conector) clean that conector as well. Be carefull with the niple as it breaks easily and cannot be bought seperatelly. Do not spray anything else but non contact, non rezidue electronics cleaner or you will damage it. Vw/audi does reconditioned ones but they will be pricey ! Its wise to scour the scrap-yards for a spare one as you will never know when you may need it. There is difference between diesel(white conector) and petrol(black conector) but i have found that both work when interchanged but the diesel one costs 400 pounds !
