Hi Hope someone can help,
how do you remove the battery clamping plate so as not to let it fall into the engine compartment

It never fell off when i changed mine, all i did was undo it with a socket and lifted it out, i never thought of it dropping, must be lucky after all!

Hi Kenny - A magnet what?

Hi sdk778 is the bolt threaded into the plate, I did not want to loosen it too far and end up not being able to get it back in, there's no room to get a hand in

Cheers
Neil

There is a tool something like a screw driver the shaft is flexible and on the end of it there is a magnet,OR put a peice of paper in your socket before placing it on the bolt, this way the bolt sits securely in the socket.

Yes the bolt on mine screwed into a captive thread, so no nut was needed, i think they are all the same so the nut isn't dropped into the engine bay. 13mm socket and a long extension bar, or two small ones, are required then the bolt can be un-done, don't undo it fully, just enought so you can undo the last two or three turns by hand, no fear of dropping the bolt then.
