mk 4 1.8t reversing light switch

Can anyone tell me where the reversing light switch is situated on my 200 mk4 turbo?
when i put it in reverse,it comes on for a second,flashes,then stays off.
it sounds like a loose connection but i don`t know where it is!

If it comes on then goes off again, it might be the switch.
Try moving the stick back out of reverse without actually disengaging the gear. If it comes on then its probably a faulty switch although I can't help you on the location.

thanks Marc. the gear lever is solidly in place and the light does come on then goes off, but when i`m reversing and rev the engine slightly it comes on until i drop the revs and goes off again!! i think it is the switch but i just need to find the damn thing. i don`t want to buy a manual for something as trivial as that!
