cd mutichanger

Hi, I have just bought a 98 (R plate) 1.8 passat estate. It has the cd controller tape unit but I cannot find the connector to plug the multichanger in. I have looked in the left and right side cubby holes in the boot. Is it likely to have one fitted as standard, if not anybody have any rough idea of costs for fitting.
