hello all, my car has an intermittant fault. The turbo kicks in when it feels like it. I have had it tested via a vag.com on the move. no faults found. The boost pressure is ok the amount of fuel mixed is ok. the maf is ok. the egr valve is ok. the turbo is ok. all valves are ok. vacuum is ok. When the car works ok the performance is staggering. When the car does not run ok the performance is of a 100bhp engine.Anyone any ideas?

My audi is 2002 model with 117k miles. This is the first time i have owned a diesel. a week after purchasing the car it would not accelerate above 80mph so the maf was replaced with a reconditioned one. This cured top end speed but did little for low level grunt. Occasionally, the car will take off in all gears and across the rev range and the power of this is exhilerating like being pushed along. Is this normal? Under ordainary driving the car requires lots of throttle and feels like it is underpowered. Am i asking for too much out of my audi?

It's hard to say what is the problem without trying it. If you live nearby west london maybe pop by sometime and you'll try my A6 110PS and i'll try your :).

Thanks for that etronic that is what i need to do so i can compare. Problem is i live in yarm teesside. What niggles me is sometimes the car really goes and is obvious the turbo is working well, all other times it pulls but no where near as good.

The problem was a faulty microchip diagnosed using a rolling road and diagnostics. A new one is fitted and all is ok now!
