Went to open boot on my A3 1.8t this morning with no success, I tried locking and then unlocking car to see if it had some how stayed locked when the doors where open still with no success, I have noticed that my rear washer jet has stoped working aswell, could that have something to do with it??? Could the pipe for the washer have come of and soaked some wires or ceased a mechanism:confused: Any:1zhelp: appreciated, thanks.

its possible, theres a real common fault on the rear wipers/mech/pump on the a3/s3.... mine broken & cause some rust on the boot which i had to spend a few $'s on getting resprayed...

the only problem with looking into it, is that the inside cover of the boot is a mission to get off, be careful if you do, the clips look a bit flimsy...

if you google 'rear wash wipe a3' on another site theres a guide how to fix your washer [with pics] dunno how much use that'll be to you if yuo cant open the boot tho!

perhaps try getting in the back seat [ooo-err!!] & folding down the seat & trying to flick the catch of the lock open with a centrepunch or a screwdriver..

defo sounds like waters got to it all to me!

hope that helps mucka

You will have to remove the inner liner from inside the car to access the mechanism, we have to do this a lot.

doh!
yeah, crasher knows the crack...

maybe check the fuse box for any busted fuses, i think a fuse would go before the actual unit?

Chears for the reply both of you, do you think it will be a DIY job, or is it going to be an ba**ard to do? do you think I should I get it booked in to a audi specialist? Any idea on how much it will cost to get fixed or prices on parts that i need? Chears

It depends on what the problem is but if it is a new motor and lock unit, quite expensive.

Any ideas on a price for new motor and lock unit? Will i be eating bread and butter for the next few months??

I'm not sure about the butter but the bread is OK as long as it is Happy Shopper.
